Playford-to-the-Present 2017

Here are photos from our 17th Annual Playford-to-the-Present 2017 English Country Dance Ball. The ball was held on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Pasadena, California. Dance leader Graham Christian of Pelham, Mass., presided over the event, and Offbeats (Ashley Broder, mandolin; Ben Schreiber, violin; Jeffrey Spero, piano; and Bonnie Insull, flute) provided the live music.

We had dancers attending from all over the Southern California area, including Culver City (of course), Anaheim, Santa Barbara, and San Diego. We even had a big group from as far as Las Vegas, Nevada.

While we didn’t get video of Gambols, the FTWK (For Those Who Know) dance, at the ball this year, we did film it a few weeks later, on November 12, 2017, danced by some of CCECD’s members: Patricia Keating and Bruce Hayes, Annie Laskey and James Hutson, Renée Camus and Alex Bradley, and Elyse Ashton and Robert Rickun. The tune is “Shepherd and Shepherdess,” performed by Boldwood, from the CD “Feet, Don’t Fail Me Now.” This was filmed from two different angles.
